How the picture of Pudhu Periyava made its way to Orikkai temple!

Pudhu Periyava Orikkai

Shankara, what a beautiful picture!

The above is the picture of HH Shri Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal that was in Orikkai, inside the temple. My grandfather late Shri P T Paani Iyer was an ardent devotee of Kanchi Mahaperiva. He used to celebrate Maha Anusham every year with the blessings of HIS HOLINESS.

During one such time, Paani thatha got the directive from Shri matam to celebrate the Jayanthi of Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal too. For that purpose, he was in need of a good picture of Pudhu Periva.

Both Periva and thatha were not satisfied with any of the available pictures. Finally Paani thatha identified an artiste, got the picture design from Mahaperiva Himself, got the picture ready and proceeded with the Pudhu Periva Jayanthi celebrations !!!

Thus is the story of how this picture came to Orikkai Manimandapam.

Later my perippa, who carried out all the spiritual works of my thatha reprinted this picture with our SATHSANG logo “Social Service Society” and distributed to many devotees. One among those devotees happen to be a key person at the Orikkai temple.

This is the story behind the entry of the picture into the temple. That person knows the value of the picture, knows how devoted my thatha and perippa were towards Mahaperiva, knows how intimate my thatha and my perippa were with Mahaperiva.

Thus the picture has its place in the temple in spite of many changes !!
